487th Death Anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Commemorated at Kartarpur

KARTARPUR: The three-day commemorations marking the 487th death anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak concluded at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur, with Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan and other parts of the world participating in prayers and religious rituals.

The commemorations were held from September 21 to 23, 2026, with devotees gathering at the historic shrine to pay their respects and remember the founder of Sikhism.

The organisers made comprehensive arrangements for the visiting pilgrims, including accommodation, food and other facilities throughout the three-day observances.

Following the conclusion of the ceremonies, participating pilgrims began their return journeys. Indian Sikh pilgrims were unable to attend the commemorations in person as the Kartarpur Corridor remained unopened.

Pilgrims who attended the ceremonies expressed appreciation to the Government of Pakistan for the arrangements, hospitality and facilities provided during their stay.

Kartarpur holds a central place in Sikh history. Baba Guru Nanak spent the final years of his life at Kartarpur, where he passed away in 1539. Gurdwara Darbar Sahib remains an important destination for Sikh pilgrims from around the world.

Nearly five centuries after Guru Nanak’s passing, Kartarpur continues to hold significance as a place of faith, remembrance and shared cultural heritage.
